The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is one of the most highly anticipated models of the upcoming year and we are learning more and more about it. Earlier this month we learned how much it would cost and that it was now available for sale, and this week we learned more about its 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
We already knew that it would deliver 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, making it one of the most powerful vehicles in its class, but now we also know that it will be one of the most fuel-efficient as well.
EPA numbers released this week give the 2022 Volkswagen Taos an estimated 31 mpg combined for front-wheel drive models, and 28 mpg for Taos models with 4Motion all-wheel drive. Translated into litres per 100 kilometres, the 2022 Volkswagen Taos will average 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres with front-wheel drive and 8.4 litres per 100 kilometres with all-wheel drive.
This gives the 2022 Volkswagen Taos the best fuel economy rating in its segment. Not bad for an SUV that has the most torque in its segment as well, and that also offers over 1,800 litres of total cargo space!
