The 2022 Volkswagen Taos has an edge in performance
The Taos is the perfect balance between a compact crossover and subcompact crossover. But despite its size, it still uses Volkswagen’s best in terms of powertrain technologies. Each trim receives a turbo charged 1.5 TSI that outputs 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The Encore GX assigns a less-powerful turbo 1.3L to its three-trim lineup, producing 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.
If you prefer FWD with your Taos, you can still pair it with an 8-speed automatic with the Trendline model. However, AWD is available/standard in all trims.
The 2022 Volkswagen Taos extends its value
A nice feature of the Taos is its value. With a starting MSRP of $26,695, you will pay thousands less to access the Taos' outstanding quality over the Encore GX. No matter which Taos trim you choose, each one comes with more capacity than its competitor. Inside, the 1,866 litres of cargo capacity is hundreds more, and seating is noticeably roomier.
The Tao’s interior is also much more stylish and inspiring than the Encore GX’s, thus creating a much more dynamic driving experience.
