The differences between the Volkswagen Jetta 2022 and the 2021 model

Announced earlier this week, the new 2022 Volkswagen Jetta will receive several upgrades when it hits the market in the fall. Let's take a closer look.

Engine

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta will be powered by a powerful 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine developing 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The 2021 Volkswagen Jetta also offered a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but with 147 horsepower.

The 2022 Jetta will take advantage of the higher compression ratio of its engine (11.5: 1) to deliver better fuel economy than the 2021 model despite the increase in power.

A six-speed manual transmission will still be standard while an eight-speed automatic will be available as an option.

Exterior

The overall styling of the new Volkswagen Jetta 2022 remains similar to the 2021 model. However, there is a redesigned front bumper, new grille, redesigned wheels and new color options.

Interior

The interior of the new Jetta will be similar to that of the 2021 model, like the exterior. However, the new version gets a standard 8-inch digital display screen, as does the steering wheel and heated seats. Available in three trims (Trendline, Comfortline and Highline), the Jetta will offer a 10-inch digital instrumentation display in Comfortline and Highline models. Other equipment available in the different versions include ventilated seats, leather seats and wireless charging for your mobile device.

Technologies

Volkswagen's new Car-Net connectivity technology is introduced in the 2022 Jetta. This system makes it possible to control several vehicle functions with a mobile device and even to find the vehicle in a parking lot.

All 2022 Volkswagen Jettas will get a front collision warning and prevention system while intelligent cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure prevention and rear traffic alert are available.
