The all-new, fully-electric compact Volkswagen ID.4 SUV is officially coming to Canada in late summer, offering an impressive combination of range and performance for a reasonable starting price with a range of incentives as well.
Starting at $44,995, the Volkswagen ID.4 will come with an 82-kWh battery and RWD at launch with 201 horsepower. A second model with 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive is on its way. The RWD model will feature 400 kilometres of range, an impressive number that will give the ID.4 more range than a Nissan LEAF or Kia Soul EV.
The new ID.4 will be eligible for the full $5,000 Federal EV rebate as well as the BC $5,000 rebate.
“The ID.4 was designed, first and foremost, to be a great SUV,” said Pierre Boutin, President of Volkswagen Canada. “It looks and drives like the future, and does so without any compromises. This truly is an EV for everyone.”
The Volkswagen ID.4 also features an onboard 11-kW charger which allows the vehicle to charge back up in just 7.5 hours on a home or public Level 2 charger. Moreover, with 125-kW charging, the ID.4 can charge from 5 percent to 80 percent in less than 40 minutes.
Size-wise, the ID.4 is a traditional compact SUV, measuring just 11 cm less than the Volkswagen Tiguan. Because of its electric powertrain, the ID.4 has a lot of interior space and cargo space, offering 858 litres behind the second row and a total of 1,818 litres.
The interior will also feature a 10-inch Discover Pro touch infotainment display standard with a 12-inch display offered as optional equipment. There’s also a 5.3-inch Digital Display instrument cluster. Users will be able to control the various functions of the ID.4 using an advanced voice command feature. To access the system, all the user has to do is use the “Hello ID.” Command and can then use natural language to adjust various settings.
Lastly, the Volkswagen ID.4 comes ready to face Canadian winters with a heated steering wheel, heated washer nozzles and heated windshield, along with heated seats. A built-in heat pump helps preserve range in very cold temperatures.
