Volkswagen Refreshes Jetta Lineup for 2025: New Styling, Tech, and Performance

The Volkswagen Jetta, a longstanding favourite in the Canadian market, is set to receive a significant update for the 2025 model year. This refresh brings enhanced styling, improved interior features, and better value to both the standard Jetta and the sportier Jetta GLI.

Sleek Exterior Upgrades

The 2025 Jetta's exterior has been modernized with several eye-catching changes. The front fascia now sports redesigned upper and lower grilles, complemented by new LED headlights. Higher trims, starting with the Comfortline Sport package, will feature an available light bar, adding a touch of sophistication to the front end.

At the rear, a new trunk lid incorporates a standard light bar connecting the taillights, enhancing the car's elegant profile. The wheel options have also been updated, with new 17-inch aluminum alloys for Comfortline models and 18-inch alloys for Highline and GLI trims. GLI models offer two distinct styles, including an optional Black package for those seeking a more aggressive look.

To round out the exterior updates, Volkswagen has introduced two new colour options: Monterey Blue Pearl and Alpine Grey, giving buyers more choices to express their personal style.

Refined Interior Experience

Step inside the 2025 Jetta, and you'll immediately notice the redesigned dashboard. A new three-bar layout across the upper dash guides the eye to the centrepiece of the interior - a floating touchscreen infotainment display, now standard across all models. This modern touch is further enhanced by the inclusion of Climatronic Touch automatic climate control as standard equipment.

The seating and décor options have been upgraded across the range:

  • Trendline models feature Rhombus cloth seats in Titan Black with Brushed Silver décor.
  • Comfortline trims offer perforated two-tone Microcloud leatherette seating in Grigio/Titan Black or Atlantic Blue/Storm Grey, paired with String Figure décor.
  • Highline models boast perforated Vienna leather seating in Grigio/Titan Black or the new Sevilla/Titan Black combination, complemented by Horizon Black décor.
  • The GLI stands out with perforated Vienna leather seats in Grigio-Red Crust/Titan Black, featuring red contrast stitching and Magnum matte décor.

Performance That Delivers

Under the hood, the standard Jetta continues to impress with its 1.5-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, producing 158 horsepower. This powerplant is now exclusively paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, striking a balance between sporty performance and fuel efficiency.

For those craving more power, the Jetta GLI delivers with its 2.0-litre EA888 engine, pumping out 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Drivers can choose between a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual transmission, catering to both convenience and driving enthusiasts.

The GLI also benefits from performance enhancements including larger brakes, an electronically-controlled torque-sensing limited-slip differential, and an adaptive damping system. These features, combined with a unique sport exhaust system, solidify the GLI's position as a true sport sedan.

Canadian drivers can expect to see the updated Volkswagen Jetta lineup in dealerships by the end of the third quarter of 2024. With its refreshed design, improved features, and continued focus on performance and value, the 2025 Jetta is set to maintain its status as a top choice in the compact sedan segment.
