Volkswagen’s ID.4 Electric SUV Won’t Fear Winter

Volkswagen’s latest generation of electric vehicles is coming, and Volkswagen owners will be happy to know that they are more than capable of handling Canadian winters. The new Volkswagen ID.4, specifically, is an all-electric SUV that’s designed for the harshest conditions.

“Winter isn’t a reason to avoid joining the EV revolution,” said Matthew Renna, vice president of E-mobility and innovation at Volkswagen of America. “We’ve designed the ID.4 to make the transition to electric driving as seamless as possible regardless of the season, and we think owners will enjoy it year round.”

Cold weather has a natural impact on electric vehicles. Because of heating needs, both inside and mechanically, an EV loses range in winter. That said, the upcoming Volkswagen ID.4 has been designed to provide its owners with all the heat they need to stay warm without compromising efficiency.

For starters, the ID.4 will offer pre-heating where the owner can use an app to heat up the interior. The good news is that this can be done while charging, which means you use the energy of the grid as opposed to the battery’s energy.

Moreover, the ID.4 has a quick heating system that will heat the steering wheel and the seats a lot faster than a traditional gas-powered car, ensuring that it uses as little energy as possible while also making the driver and passengers more comfortable…Faster.
