Volkswagen unveiled the 2025 Taos with a comprehensive redesign, bringing fresh styling, advanced technology, and increased power to the subcompact SUV segment. The updated model is set to arrive in Canadian dealerships early next year, promising an enhanced driving experience for enthusiasts and families alike.
The 2025 Taos showcases a striking new exterior design, featuring a redesigned front bumper and grille. An available light bar adds a touch of sophistication, while LED projector headlights now come standard across all trim levels. The rear of the vehicle boasts connected taillights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge, elevating its overall aesthetic appeal.
Expanding the colour palette, Volkswagen introduces three new paint options: Serrano Green Metallic, Monterey Blue Pearl, and Alpine Grey. Complementing these finishes are new aluminum alloy wheel designs, available in 17, 18, and 19-inch sizes, allowing for greater personalization.
Inside the cabin, the 2025 Taos receives a significant upgrade with a redesigned dashboard. The centrepiece is a standard 8-inch floating infotainment display, bringing a contemporary look and improved functionality. All models now feature a dual-zone automatic Climatronic HVAC system with touch controls, enhancing comfort for both driver and passengers. Volkswagen has also implemented new acoustic dampening treatments to reduce interior noise, creating a more serene driving environment.
The Taos offers a range of interior options across its trim levels. The Trendline trim features cloth upholstery, while the Comfortline trim is equipped with MicroCloud leatherette materials. For those seeking a more distinctive look, the Comfortline Black Edition includes unique black accents. The top-tier Highline trim offers leather seats in either black or a new "Blue Night" dark blue colour.
Under the hood, the 2025 Taos receives a power boost. The revised 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine now produces 174 horsepower, up from the previous 158 hp. This increase comes courtesy of several modifications, including revised piston rings, fuel injectors, a modified turbo housing, a larger intercooler, and a new gasoline particulate filter. Additionally, all-wheel-drive models now feature an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous seven-speed dual-clutch unit.
Safety remains a top priority for Volkswagen, with the 2025 Taos offering an array of advanced driver assistance features. The available IQ.DRIVE suite includes Travel Assist, Front Assist, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist. New for this model year is the addition of front and rear Park Distance Control, providing enhanced guidance in tight parking situations.
While specific pricing details are yet to be announced, Volkswagen Canada confirms that the redesigned 2025 Taos will be available in dealerships early next year.
